Q. How can I set up an account?
A. Please click on the 'login' link at the top and set yourself up. You will need to buy credit before you use the rack. If your account is left at 0 it will be deleted in 72 hours.
Q. How do I cancel a slot if I no longer want it?
A. This is covered in the training videos. Log in and click 'Cancel'
Q. I am a member of www.howtonetwork.net. How do I get my free sessions?
A. You create an account for yourself on the login page and then e-mail
us saying
'Activate Me' as the title. It takes about 24 hours for us to manually
add your
hours so please don't chase us immediately.
Q. How do I get unlimited rack time for free?
A. Join www.howtonetwork.net as a platinum member and you get infinity
rack hours.
Q. The router is asking me for username and password.
A. That is your rack login username and password.
Q. I am using IE7 and can't use hyperterminal.
A. We recommend Putty as hypterterminal doesn't come with Windows Vista
and telnet
is disabled in IE7. Please watch the video on the patch to get telnet
working.
Q. What is the best browser to use to connect?
A. Firefox is by far the best and Putty for the telnet connection.
Q. I am trying to start my session but I get a message 'Session Cannot
Be Started.'
A. This is because your timezone is not correct. You need to ensure you
have
updated your time settings for summer and winter time. The system does
not do this
automatically for you.
Q. How do I contact support.
A. Please use the contact us form and give us 24 hours to reply (monday
to friday). Please do not call Reality Press/HowtoNetwork because this
is a message taking service and not connected to the rack.
Q. I can't get some commands working such as 'erase','password,' and 'config-register' why is that.
A. Certain commands are blocked due to customers locking routers with passwords. I'm afraid we have had to add this to protect the racks.
